{"id":11549,"date":"2025-06-24T18:00:21","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T18:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=11549"},"modified":"2025-06-24T18:00:21","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T18:00:21","slug":"imran-khan-agrees-to-approve-k-p-budget-barrister-saif","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=11549","title":{"rendered":"Imran Khan agrees to approve K-P budget: Barrister Saif"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has given conditional approval to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s budget for the next fiscal year, following a detailed briefing by provincial adviser Barrister Saif.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to reporters after meeting Imran\u00a0at Adiala Jail, he said the former prime minister had been fully briefed on the province\u2019s financial situation, constitutional challenges, and what was described as a strategy by the opposition to block the budget\u2019s passage.<\/p>\n<p>He said the party founder, after hearing all details, expressed his agreement with the budget&#8217;s approval. \u201cI conveyed everything that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Muzzammil Aslam wished to communicate,\u201d Saif said, adding,\u00a0\u201cAfter listening to the briefing, Imran Khan agreed to the approval of the budget.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read More: K-P budget to be approved only after Imran&#8217;s nod, says CM&#8217;s aide<\/p>\n<p>Saif confirmed that political and constitutional matters were discussed in detail during his meeting with Khan, and the PTI chief was briefed on legal risks that could have arisen had the budget not been passed within the constitutionally mandated timeframe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDelays could have disrupted salary disbursement and halted essential government functions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He also revealed that the PTI founder was told about an alleged meeting at the Governor House where opposition parties had reportedly devised a plan to block the budget\u2019s passage. \u201cHad the budget not been approved, it could have triggered a governance crisis in the province,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Also Read: K-P proposes 10% salary hike, 7% pension increase for govt employees<\/p>\n<p>According to Saif, the K-P government held extensive consultations with legal experts and party members before proceeding with the budget. The final decision to approve it was made after parliamentary party meetings and internal deliberations, he added.<\/p>\n<p>He said that changes to the budget remained a possibility after a planned meeting between Imran Khan, Gandapur, and Muzzammil Aslam. \u201cImran Khan will issue directions after that meeting, and amendments will be made accordingly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Imran had reportedly expressed reservations over the passage of the budget.<\/p>\n<p>According to his sister Aleema Khan, who also met him at Adiala Jail, Imran said: \u201cThe budget should not have been passed without my input. Now, with the Supreme Court\u2019s permission, the changes I deem necessary will have to be made.
