But as a people, our basic premise is very simple and straightforward: we know our worth, value our independence, and never allow anyone\u2026<br \/>\n\u2014 Seyed Abbas Araghchi (@araghchi) June 27, 2025<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf President Trump is genuine about wanting a deal, he should put aside the disrespectful and unacceptable tone towards Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei, and stop hurting his millions of heartfelt supporters,\u201d Araghchi posted.<\/p>\n<p>He added that \u201cthe great and powerful Iranian people, who showed the world that the Israeli regime had no choice but to run to \u2018Daddy\u2019 to avoid being flattened by our missiles, do not take kindly to threats and insults.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Donald Trump claimed he prevented the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declaring he would have allowed the strike but chose not to.<\/p>\n<p>Posting on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said he halted a plan involving the US Armed Forces and Israel to kill Khamenei, following recent Iranian assertions that nuclear facility damage was overstated.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/114756430889057942<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew exactly where he was sheltered, and would not let Israel, or the US Armed Forces, by far the greatest and most powerful in the world, terminate his life,\u201d Trump wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI saved him from a very ugly and ignominious death, and he does not have to say, \u2018Thank you, President Trump!\u2019\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Trump criticised Khamenei for his recent statement calling Iran\u2019s response to US and Israeli strikes \u201ca slap\u201d to Washington.<\/p>\n<p>The president described the Supreme Leader\u2019s words as \u201canger, hatred, and disgust,\u201d and said he immediately abandoned work on sanction relief as a result.<\/p>\n<p>He also issued a warning to Tehran: \u201cIf Iran continues down the path of nuclear weapons, the bombing will resume, and it will be far worse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The comments come amid high tensions in the Middle East after a 12-day war between Iran and Israel, followed by a US-brokered ceasefire.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Iran has condemned remarks by US President Donald Trump as \u201cdisrespectful and unacceptable\u201d after he claimed credit for saving Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, from \u201can ugly and ignominious death,\u201d AFP reported on Saturday.
