{"id":15340,"date":"2025-07-31T09:06:57","date_gmt":"2025-07-31T09:06:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=15340"},"modified":"2025-07-31T09:06:57","modified_gmt":"2025-07-31T09:06:57","slug":"lhc-sets-aside-fir-order-against-suleman-shehbaz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=15340","title":{"rendered":"LHC sets aside FIR order against Suleman Shehbaz"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Chief Justice Aalia Neelum of the Lahore High Court (LHC) has set aside a district court\u2019s order directing the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif\u2019s son, Suleman Shehbaz, in a cheque dishonour case.<\/p>\n<p>The high court held that the lower court failed to properly examine the facts of the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Suleman Shehbaz had challenged the July 10 order issued by the district judge, which instructed police to register an FIR against him on charges of issuing a bounced cheque.<\/p>\n<p>During the LHC proceedings, Suleman\u2019s counsel contended that the district court\u2019s decision was not only contrary to law but also passed without a proper review of the factual background.<\/p>\n<p>The respondent\u2019s counsel alleged that Suleman\u2019s company had purchased 17 laptops and issued a cheque for Rs 600,000 in payment, which was later dishonoured.<\/p>\n<p>However, Suleman\u2019s counsel countered that no laptops were ever delivered to the company\u2019s office. He further argued that the cheques in question were stolen by company employees and wrongfully handed over to the respondent. An FIR had already been registered against those individuals, he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe company has no connection with these cheques,\u201d the counsel asserted.<\/p>\n<p>Chief justice also questioned the respondent\u2019s legal team for failing to specify the date of the alleged laptop purchase.
