Travel bans can be imposed for reasons such as criminal complaints, immigration violations, or outstanding debts.<\/p>\n<p>Reasons for a Travel Ban:<\/p>\n<p>Court-issued bans due to criminal cases or arrest warrants.<\/p>\n<p>Default on debts to the UAE government.<\/p>\n<p>Immigration violations like overstaying a visa or working without a permit.<\/p>\n<p>Criminal complaints filed against the individual, or international security concerns.<\/p>\n<p>How to Check for a Travel Ban:<\/p>\n<p>Dubai: Residents can check via the Dubai Police app, website, or Smart Police Stations. &#8220;Enter your Emirates ID number and verify identity via OTP to check for travel bans,&#8221; said Ahmed Gabr, Legal Adviser at Elnaggar and Partners.<\/p>\n<p>Abu Dhabi: Use the Estafer service on the Judicial Department&#8217;s website to check for cases.<\/p>\n<p>Ras Al Khaimah: Check the RAK government\u2019s digital portal or visit a local police station.<\/p>\n<p>Across the UAE: Immigration or police authorities can also help verify travel bans using passport numbers.<\/p>\n<p>Hiring a Lawyer: For those unable to verify their travel ban through these services, hiring a lawyer specializing in immigration can help clarify the situation and assist in lifting the ban. &#8220;Individuals can engage a law firm which specialises in immigration services, who would be able to verify if you have a travel ban, guide you through the reasons behind it, and assist you with lifting the ban, if possible,&#8221; said Ahmed Gabr.<\/p>\n<p>Lifting a Travel Ban:<\/p>\n<p>Criminal Ban: Can be appealed online via the Ministry of Justice\u2019s website within five working days. &#8220;This process would take five working days and requires applicants to submit documents supporting their application and reasoning why the travel ban should be canceled,&#8221; explained Gabr.<\/p>\n<p>Debt-Related Ban: After settling outstanding debts, a clearance letter should be obtained from the creditor to lift the ban. &#8220;A clearance letter should be acquired by the debtor from the creditor and a request to lift the travel ban should be submitted to the authorities,&#8221; Gabr added.<\/p>\n<p>For those outside the UAE, a Power of Attorney can be provided to a lawyer to act on their behalf.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UAE residents planning to travel or relocate abroad should ensure they are not subject to a travel ban, particularly if involved in ongoing court cases or debt issues.
