Speaking on The Bootleg Kev Podcast, Nelly, 50, said that while marriage wasn\u2019t initially on the table, he felt it was the right thing to do.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s just knock this out \u2014 everything was moving so fast,\u201d Nelly recalled. \u201cWe already knew where we were in life. If we\u2019re back like this, this must be what it\u2019s supposed to be. I didn\u2019t want her to be a baby mama, you know what I mean?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The couple rekindled their relationship in September 2023 and quietly wed three months later on December 27, as confirmed by court records obtained by People. Their marriage was kept under wraps until June 2024. Ashanti publicly revealed her pregnancy in April 2024 during an interview with Essence, and the couple welcomed their son, Kareem Kenkaide Hayes \u2014 known as KK \u2014 in July.<\/p>\n<p>During the 2024 Baby2Baby Gala, Ashanti called motherhood \u201camazing,\u201d adding, \u201cHe\u2019s a blessing. He\u2019s an angel. I\u2019m insanely in love with him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Balancing motherhood with her career, Ashanti admitted she\u2019ll need \u201cextra hands\u201d while touring with KK, but said she\u2019s embracing this new chapter with gratitude and joy.<\/p>\n<p>At the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards, Ashanti surprised Nelly by presenting him with the Landmark Award. Reflecting on the moment, Nelly said, \u201cThat\u2019s my baby, man.
