{"id":1868,"date":"2026-09-29T14:03:48","date_gmt":"2026-09-29T09:03:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=1868"},"modified":"2026-09-29T14:03:48","modified_gmt":"2026-09-29T09:03:48","slug":"israeli-strike-kills-senior-hamas-leader-in-northern-gaza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=1868","title":{"rendered":"Israeli strike kills senior Hamas leader in northern Gaza"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>An Israeli air strike killed senior Hamas leader Izz Al Din Al Beik in the northern Gaza Strip on Tuesday, Israeli and Palestinian officials said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Radical Israeli \u200cprime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and militant defence minister Israel Katz said the Israeli military had targeted and killed Beik, who they alleged has been involved in planning \u200battacks and recruiting militants.<\/p>\n<p>Hamas issued a statement confirming Beik\u2019s killing in the Israeli strike that medics \u200bsaid hit an apartment building in Gaza City\u2019s Nasr neighbourhood \u2060around dawn.<\/p>\n<p>Another person died from their wounds after the attack, health \u200bofficials said.<\/p>\n<p>Israel has stepped up strikes on the Palestinians in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli military says it has killed at least 20 Hamas leaders this \u200bmonth.<\/p>\n<p>Hamas has denied \u200cIsraeli charges that it was trying \u2060to carry out attacks or rebuild its arsenal, and accuses Israel of undermining the Gaza deal.<\/p>\n<p>A US-brokered ceasefire agreed last year calls for the eventual reconstruction of the territory.<\/p>\n<p>But little progress has been made \u200bas negotiators have \u200bfailed to agree to Israel withdrawing its troops.
