{"id":1964,"date":"2026-10-01T10:03:47","date_gmt":"2026-10-01T05:03:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=1964"},"modified":"2026-10-01T10:03:47","modified_gmt":"2026-10-01T05:03:47","slug":"trump-says-flydubai-co-pilot-may-have-been-terrorist-or-whack-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=1964","title":{"rendered":"Trump says Flydubai co-pilot may have been \u2018terrorist\u2019 or \u2018whack-job\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he spoke at length with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about an incident aboard a Flydubai passenger aircraft, adding that the co-pilot may have been either a terrorist or an individual acting irrationally.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s an incredible story,\u201d he told reporters at the White House when asked about the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Trump said Netanyahu had briefed him on the events aboard the flight, which was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did speak to Bibi Netanyahu at length about this event,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd it seems as though the co-pilot was perhaps a terrorist, or perhaps a whack-job, and he stabbed the pilot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump then recounted the account he had received from Netanyahu involving an Israeli plumber who he said had no experience flying an aircraft but intervened after hearing a disturbance in the cockpit.<\/p>\n<p>According to Trump\u2019s account, the plumber realised something was wrong after hearing screaming and seeing what was happening in the flight deck.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving never flown a plane, he took the stick, lifted it up, and levelled out the plane before it crashed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Trump acknowledged that he could not independently confirm the details of the account.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow this is the story that I heard. I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s true, but that\u2019s the story that I got from BB,\u201d he said, referring to Netanyahu.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also recounted Netanyahu\u2019s explanation for how the plumber knew what to do in an emergency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen asked why he did that, he said, \u2018He watches that show Air Disasters,\u2019\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>Trump described the television programme as \u201cthe craziest show\u201d and said Netanyahu told him the passenger watched it frequently and learned from the programme \u201csort of how to fly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The comments came after reports of a confrontation between the pilots of a passenger aircraft operating from Dubai to Tel Aviv.<\/p>\n<p>According to the reports, the incident triggered a hijacking code before the aircraft ultimately landed in Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p>Flydubai has said the circumstances and motives behind the altercation remain unknown and are the subject of a formal investigation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he spoke at length with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about an incident aboard a Flydubai passenger aircraft, adding that the co-pilot may have been either a terrorist or an individual acting irrationally. \u201cI think it\u2019s an incredible story,\u201d he told reporters at the White House when asked about the incident.
