Miyamoto expressed his excitement for the collaboration with Arad, known for producing major blockbusters, and emphasized Nintendo\u2019s significant involvement in the film\u2019s production.<\/p>\n<p>-Nintendo.<\/p>\n<p>Wes Ball, the director behind The Maze Runner trilogy and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is attached to direct the film, as well as produce alongside Joe Hartwick Jr. through their production company, Oddball Entertainment. The film will be co-financed by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Nintendo, with Nintendo providing the majority of the funding. However, further details about the casting and story are yet to be revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Miyamoto shared an update at the time of the announcement, stating, \u201cI have been working on the live-action film of \u2018The Legend of Zelda\u2019 for many years now with Avi Arad-san. We have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production. It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The film gained further momentum after the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, a collaboration between Nintendo, Universal Pictures, and Illumination Entertainment.
