{"id":2144,"date":"2026-10-04T17:04:16","date_gmt":"2026-10-04T12:04:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=2144"},"modified":"2026-10-04T17:04:16","modified_gmt":"2026-10-04T12:04:16","slug":"naqvi-blames-kp-cm-for-sabotaging-govt-opposition-talks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=2144","title":{"rendered":"Naqvi blames KP CM for sabotaging govt-opposition talks"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday blamed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi for sabotaging the government-opposition talks.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The government and opposition held hours-long negotiations in the Parliament House to iron out differences over key issues ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march on Islamabad.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Naqvi said that the government and opposition had reached agreement on 99% of the points in negotiations, but the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister sabotaged the talks at the final stage.<\/p>\n<p>Naqvi said four drafts of an agreement had been prepared during the 12-hour negotiations, with changes made to each draft as talks progressed.<\/p>\n<p>He thanked the opposition negotiating committee for conducting the talks in good faith.<\/p>\n<p>Naqvi said issues related to the Police Act and terrorism, including the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), were discussed during the negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the government side, the real issue was not political but terrorism,\u201d Naqvi said, adding that it wanted the KP government to stand with it on counterterrorism measures.<\/p>\n<p>He said a final agreement had been prepared, which he had taken to the president, adding that he also requested that the KP government be included in the negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>Naqvi said he had briefed President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the situation, adding that both the president and prime minister had directed the government to make the negotiations successful.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we had known that the KP government would veto the agreement, we would not have held the negotiations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Naqvi clarified that the government had not asked the PTI to postpone its long march, although the Pakistan Peoples Party had made such a request.<\/p>\n<p>He said the PTI had indicated that it would postpone the march if the issues were resolved, but had been told beforehand that negotiations would end if the march began.<\/p>\n<p>The interior minister said the government would not allow a repeat of the May 9 events or any violation of court orders.<\/p>\n<p>He said those gathering for the sit-in would face legal cases and warned that nobody would be allowed to storm Islamabad.<\/p>\n<p>He also warned that the government would fulfil its responsibility to maintain law and order and enforce court orders, adding that Afridi would be responsible if any loss of life occurred.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday blamed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi for sabotaging the government-opposition talks.
