The planes had been used \u200bfor US strikes on Iran.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile operational security precluded \u2060us from confirming the movement of our assets and \u200bforces in real-time, we can acknowledge now that all US \u200bbombers that were deployed to RAF Fairford have redeployed to their home stations in the United States,\u201d a Pentagon spokesman wrote in \u200ban email.<\/p>\n<p>Britain has \u201cstrong indications\u201d that <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link--external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/uk\/uk-airbase-suspect-tipped-off-police-times-says-2026-09-30\/\">Iran was involved<\/a> in a <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link--external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/uk\/what-is-known-about-arrests-us-airbase-britain-2026-09-28\/\">suspected \u200bplot<\/a> targeting the base, Prime Minister Andy Burnham said on Wednesday. \u200c<\/p>\n<p>Iran \u2060said accusations linking Tehran to the alleged plan were baseless and summoned the British ambassador in Tehran over the issue.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> first reported that the aircraft were \u200bremoved from \u200bthe base \u2060amid security concerns over suspected terror plots against the facility.<\/p>\n<p>The British government had allowed the \u200bUS to use bombers based at Fairford \u200bto \u2060strike Iranian missile sites that were attacking ships in the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p>US President <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link--external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/uk\/what-is-known-about-arrests-us-airbase-britain-2026-09-28\/\">Donald Trump said those involved in the \u2060plot<\/a> \u200bhad planned \u201cbig damage\u201d, while US Secretary \u200bof State Marco Rubio also pointed to the \u201chands of a foreign actor.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The United States removed its B-1 bombers from a UK air base one \u200bweek after several men were arrested there on \u200csuspicion of preparing terrorist acts, a Pentagon official said on Sunday.
