Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye have agreed to immediately implement their collective defence commitments and take steps for the rapid deployment of military forces to the kingdom, according to a joint statement issued after an emergency meeting of the three countries\u2019 Strategic Defence Committee.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The meeting strongly condemned attempts to target holy cities of Makkah and Madinah and rejected continued attacks on Saudi cities, civilians and economic installations.<\/p>\n

The three countries declared any attack or threat to Saudi Arabia\u2019s security and territorial integrity unacceptable.<\/p>\n

The meeting also appointed retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood as the first secretary general of the Makkah Alliance for Defence for a three-year term, according to the Foreign Office spokesperson.<\/p>\n

The three countries welcomed his appointment, wished him success and expressed confidence in his role in advancing the alliance.<\/p>\n

Under the joint statement, immediate practical steps will be taken to implement collective defence commitments, including measures to provide the agreed military forces and defence capabilities.<\/p>\n

The forces and defence capabilities will be rapidly deployed to Saudi Arabia under approved arrangements, and in accordance with the relevant national laws, the statement said.<\/p>\n

The decisions would further strengthen military preparedness, interoperability and the three countries\u2019 collective ability to respond to various threats, it added.<\/p>\n

The three countries stressed that the security of each member was an integral part of their collective security.<\/p>\n

The statement said practical implementation of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement would help strengthen the commitment to collective defence and enhance effective deterrence capabilities.<\/p>\n

Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye also reaffirmed their commitment to defending their security, sovereignty and territorial integrity, saying they would take measures to achieve these objectives in accordance with the provisions of the Makkah Agreement.<\/p>\n

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir attended the meeting.<\/p>\n

The three countries discussed the latest regional situation and expressed their commitment to working together for regional peace and stability.<\/p>\n

Pakistan reiterated its unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed its full support for the kingdom\u2019s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.<\/p>\n

Following the meeting, Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman said the Strategic Political and Defence Committee had reaffirmed the unity and solidarity of the member states in confronting Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia and the holy sites.<\/p>\n

He said the committee had agreed to immediately activate collective defence measures under the alliance\u2019s framework against the attacks and those responsible for them.<\/p>\n

Prince Khalid said the meeting had reaffirmed the unity and solidarity of the three countries in confronting what he described as \u201cserious attacks\u201d by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia and the holy sites.<\/p>\n
