Information Minister Ataullah Tarar has accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan of being the \u201cchief sponsor\u201d of terrorists and of facilitating the return and sheltering of militants.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He alleged\u00a0that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister-designate Sohail Afridi was nominated to \u201ccompletely support and promote\u201d terrorists and their facilitators.<\/p>\n

He made the remarks while speaking at a joint press conference in Islamabad alongside the Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Information and K-P Affairs\u00a0Ikhtiar Wali Khan on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Tarar said the recent London court ruling against PTI amounted to a political defeat for the party and reinforced the state\u2019s narrative that those seeking to destabilise the country would not be tolerated.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe person sitting in jail is the chief sponsor of terrorists,\u201d he told reporters, adding that facilitators \u201creceived support from him\u201d and that those who foment instability \u201cwill not succeed.\u201d He added that the PTI founder used to describe terrorists as \u201cgood people\u201d and had advocated for negotiations with them.<\/p>\n

Pointing towards Afridi and the PTI founder, Tarar said, \u201cThat very person and the one currently in jail brought terrorists back to Pakistan and settled them, and to this day, that facilitation continues. It is unfortunate that the entire disruptive faction of PTI acts as facilitators for terrorists.\u201d<\/p>\n

He alleged that militants were actively enabled during Khan\u2019s tenure and named Afridi as a beneficiary of that policy, saying he was brought into provincial politics to strengthen militancy\u2019s support network.<\/p>\n

Tarar also criticised Ali Amin Gandapur, suggesting he was removed\u00a0as K-P chief minister for failing to carry out such facilitation to the satisfaction of PTI\u2019s founder. \u201cHe asked for someone close to the declared fugitive Murad Saeed and sympathetic towards terrorist networks,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n

The information minister strongly condemned attacks on civilians, saying those responsible \u201cdeserve no mercy.\u201d He emphasised that Pakistan\u2019s security policy \u201cis made in Islamabad and will remain so,\u201d and not dictated by any external influence, including Afghanistan.<\/p>\n

Highlighting what he called the broader failure of PTI\u2019s \u201canti-state narrative,\u201d the minister described the London judgment as \u201ca resounding slap in the face\u201d for those who sought to undermine state institutions.<\/p>\n

He said the ruling vindicated the government\u2019s stance and exposed the \u201cbaseless allegations\u201d made against Pakistan\u2019s institutions.<\/p>\n

Tarar further accused the PTI government of dismantling the National Action Plan, weakening the country\u2019s counterterrorism efforts.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring PTI\u2019s tenure, terrorists were brought back to Pakistan, causing serious damage to the nation,\u201d he said, recalling that peace was restored through military operations Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad, which \u201cbroke the back of terrorism.\u201d<\/p>\n

Praising Pakistan\u2019s security forces, Tarar said they \u201cstand like an iron wall against terrorism\u201d and that their sacrifices \u201cwill be written in golden words.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ikhtiar Wali Khan also said that while changes in provincial leadership are a routine political matter, K-P continues to suffer from poor governance and a rising threat of terrorism.<\/p>\n

He added the \u201cKohistan scandal\u201d had exposed large-scale corruption during PTI\u2019s rule, adding that the party\u2019s founder \u201chas only worked against the state and its institutions.\u201d<\/p>\n

He further claimed that PTI had left Pakistan \u201con the verge of bankruptcy,\u201d but under the current government, \u201cthe country\u2019s economy is now recovering.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
