{"id":2286,"date":"2026-10-07T20:03:44","date_gmt":"2026-10-07T15:03:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=2286"},"modified":"2026-10-07T20:03:44","modified_gmt":"2026-10-07T15:03:44","slug":"governors-rule-in-kp-would-be-last-option-pakistan-defence-minister-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=2286","title":{"rendered":"Governor\u2019s rule in KP would be last option, Pakistan defence minister says"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Wednesday that imposing governor\u2019s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be the government\u2019s last option as tensions between the provincial and federal governments continued over a planned march on Islamabad.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to reporters at Parliament House, the Defence Minister said the government was considering all constitutional and legal options, including governor\u2019s rule, but was making efforts to avoid it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe final decision regarding governor\u2019s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be taken by looking at the situation and available options,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Khawaja Asif said that if no other option remained, Islamabad could not be left \u201cat the mercy of anyone\u201d and the government had the right to defend the capital if it came under attack.<\/p>\n<p>He said attacks on the capital could not be allowed every two or three months.<\/p>\n<p>He also said political alliances and cooperation with forces involved in the deaths of thousands of Pakistanis were unacceptable.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed there was evidence of links between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the Taliban, and accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government of showing \u201ccriminal indifference\u201d to terrorism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe PML-N has not become an ally of the Taliban,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Asif said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was in the grip of terrorism while the chief minister and cabinet were engaged in a political long march.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe time has come to take important decisions.
