{"id":2378,"date":"2026-10-09T12:03:45","date_gmt":"2026-10-09T07:03:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=2378"},"modified":"2026-10-09T12:03:45","modified_gmt":"2026-10-09T07:03:45","slug":"jeddah-tower-reaches-level-118-hits-474-metres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=2378","title":{"rendered":"Jeddah tower reaches level 118, hits 474 metres"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>Saudi Arabia\u2019s Jeddah Tower has reached Level 118, standing approximately 474 metres tall, putting the unfinished skyscraper on a par with some of the world\u2019s tallest completed buildings as construction continues towards its planned height of more than one kilometre.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The latest milestone was announced by Ian Norman Miller, senior executive project director at Saudi Binladin Group and head of the tower\u2019s construction team, in a LinkedIn post marking the latest concrete pour.<\/p>\n<p>At its current height, Jeddah Tower is comparable to Central Park Tower in New York and Wuhan Greenland Centre in China.<\/p>\n<p>Central Park Tower, the world\u2019s tallest residential building, stands 472.4 metres tall, while Wuhan Greenland Centre reaches 475.6 metres, according to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the two completed skyscrapers, Jeddah Tower is designed to exceed 1,000 metres, surpassing Dubai\u2019s 828-metre Burj Khalifa to become the world\u2019s tallest building.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor Jeddah Tower and the Saudi Binladin Group team, it\u2019s just another Tuesday on our way to 1km+,\u201d Miller wrote in his post.<\/p>\n<p>All three skyscrapers share a design connection, having been developed by Chicago-based Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture and engineered for wind conditions by Canadian specialist RWDI.<\/p>\n<p>Their designs incorporate features intended to manage the strong and complex wind forces that affect supertall buildings.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"design-built-to-withstand-wind\" href=\"https:\/\/english.aaj.tv\/news\/330475812\/jeddah-tower-reaches-level-118-hits-474-metres#design-built-to-withstand-wind\" class=\"heading-permalink\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" title=\"Permalink\"><\/a><strong>Design built to withstand wind<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Jeddah Tower\u2019s narrow, tapering profile and three-winged base are intended to reduce structural stress caused by wind.<\/p>\n<p>Its shape changes progressively as the building rises, helping prevent wind pressure from remaining concentrated at the same level.<\/p>\n<p>Wuhan Greenland Centre also features a triangular design that narrows towards the top, helping the structure withstand strong winds and seismic activity.<\/p>\n<p>Central Park Tower uses a slender profile and specialised structural engineering to rise above Manhattan\u2019s Billionaires\u2019 Row.<\/p>\n<p>Miller also praised the tower\u2019s night-shift team, led by Prakash Panda and Kabilan Gopalakrishna under the leadership of Fahad Jamalaldeen, for safely completing work at Level 118.<\/p>\n<p>The progress marks another significant stage for a project that experienced a prolonged construction halt before work resumed.<\/p>\n<p>Saudi Binladin Group is leading the main construction work on the development, which has approximately 530,000 square metres of built-up area.<\/p>\n<p>Once completed, the tower is expected to include residential units, offices, hotel facilities, retail spaces and an observation deck.<\/p>\n<p>Jeddah Tower is the centrepiece of the wider Jeddah Economic City development and a prominent project in Saudi Arabia\u2019s construction programme.<\/p>\n<p>Described as the world\u2019s first \u201cskypiercer\u201d, the building is intended to cross the one-kilometre mark.
