Pakistan remains committed to a negotiated and peaceful resolution of the Iran-US conflict and opposes any further expansion of the war, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In an excerpt from an interview with CNN shared on X by the broadcaster\u2019s correspondent Ivan Watson, ISPR said Pakistan would continue doing whatever was possible and necessary to narrow differences and help secure a peaceful outcome.<\/p>\n

\u201cPakistan has been a very honest broker. So neutrality and everything stands with honesty,\u201d he said, adding that Pakistan had a stake in regional peace and stability.<\/p>\n

ISPR said Pakistan had clearly communicated its position to its partners and friends, condemning both Israeli and US attacks on Iran and Iran\u2019s attacks on Gulf countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t mince our words,\u201d he said, adding that no one would benefit from an expansion of the conflict.<\/p>\n

Responding to a question about the Makkah defence agreement, ISPR said Pakistani forces had been deployed in Saudi Arabia for decades and that ties between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye were built on sustained diplomatic, political, military and people-to-people relations.<\/p>\n

He said the agreement had not emerged in isolation and that its implementation and outcomes would be \u201cpurely defensive\u201d.<\/p>\n

ISPR said the objective was not to label countries as friends or enemies, but to defend Saudi Arabia and the two holy mosques, Al-Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Al-Masjid al-Nabawi in Madinah.<\/p>\n

He said all three countries had significant military, diplomatic and other capabilities, adding that the alliance was aimed at defending Saudi Arabia and the Haramain Sharifain.<\/p>\n

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye signed the trilateral defence framework two months ago, establishing a mechanism aimed at strengthening collective security, military coordination and deterrence among the three countries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
