Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had urged the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to resolve political disputes through dialogue, warning that its politics of confrontation and extremism could further weaken its political position.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of a 25-acre KMC Sports Complex in Karachi\u2019s Baldia Town, Bilawal described the possible imposition of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as an extreme measure that should be used only as a last resort.<\/p>\n

He said the PTI was suffering the greatest damage from its own politics of extremism and warned that continued political obstinacy could further diminish its role in the provincial government.<\/p>\n

Addressing the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, Bilawal said that if he was sincere towards the PTI founder, he should abandon the politics of extremism. He added that if the party continued on its current path, its founder could surpass Asif Ali Zardari\u2019s record for time spent in prison and remain incarcerated indefinitely.<\/p>\n

Bilawal questioned why the chief minister had undermined the negotiation process and said it remained to be seen whether he would heed the advice.<\/p>\n

He said the PTI had a support base but was disappointing its supporters through its political conduct. While some believed confrontational politics in opposition could boost popularity, the PTI\u2019s experience showed that such an approach was harming the party itself, he added.<\/p>\n

Bilawal said the PTI had played no significant role in provincial or federal politics and warned that its continued obstinacy could further limit its role in the provincial government.<\/p>\n

He said the PPP and PTI were currently the only two major players in Karachi\u2019s political landscape, while criticising the PTI for remaining at odds with other political parties, the courts, the establishment and even members of its own ranks.<\/p>\n

Bilawal said the PTI did not participate in parliamentary committee meetings, while the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had agreed to the formation of a parliamentary committee on electoral reforms.<\/p>\n

He said the PTI, which had raised strong objections to alleged electoral rigging, was now refusing to join the electoral reforms committee.<\/p>\n

The PPP chairman said the PTI could secure its right to govern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through dialogue if it abandoned the politics of extremism. He stressed that political confrontation should end to prevent political workers from becoming disillusioned.<\/p>\n

Recalling the 2008 elections, Bilawal said the PPP had secured votes and formed a government but had not gained power in Punjab. Despite political differences, he said, it was essential to uphold the democratic process and continue dialogue.<\/p>\n

On the possible imposition of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Bilawal said the system had been poised to declare one in the province a week earlier. The PPP had insisted, however, that an emergency should be treated only as a last resort.<\/p>\n

Describing an emergency as a \u201cconstitutional and political atom bomb\u201d, he said it had not been imposed because of the PPP\u2019s stance. He warned that if an emergency were imposed in the future, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister would be held responsible.<\/p>\n

Addressing the inauguration of a sports complex in Karachi\u2019s Keamari area, Bilawal said the PPP wanted young people to engage in sports rather than crime, adding that they should have pens rather than weapons in their hands.<\/p>\n

He accused other political parties of pursuing a politics of hatred, division and conflict, saying the PPP wanted to promote positive politics across the country.<\/p>\n

Bilawal said he had inaugurated Thar Coal Block II in Tharparkar a week earlier and was now inaugurating a sports complex in Keamari. He also congratulated Karachi\u2019s youth.<\/p>\n

Referring to Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, Bilawal said he learned a new Urdu word whenever they shared a stage. On this occasion, he had learned the term \u201cBaldia-e-Uzma\u201d, meaning Metropolitan Corporation.<\/p>\n

On local government affairs, Bilawal said maximum powers should be devolved to the local government system.<\/p>\n

He said those who toured the city making speeches knew that if the public\u2019s will prevailed, they would not win even a single Union Council seat. He also urged Mustafa Kamal, Mohsin Naqvi and the business community to begin their efforts from Keamari.<\/p>\n

Turning to the proposed South Punjab province, Bilawal said there was public support for its creation and argued that it should be established sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n

However, he said people could not be forcibly persuaded in areas where they did not want a separate province, adding that public opinion should be prioritised in decisions on the creation of new provinces.
