{"id":2580,"date":"2026-10-12T20:03:43","date_gmt":"2026-10-12T15:03:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=2580"},"modified":"2026-10-12T20:03:43","modified_gmt":"2026-10-12T15:03:43","slug":"riyadh-airport-extends-suspension-after-attacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=2580","title":{"rendered":"Riyadh airport extends suspension after attacks"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>Saudi authorities on Monday extended the suspension of operations at Riyadh\u2019s international airport following a series of deadly Houthi attacks.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Strikes on the airport in recent days have killed at least 18 people, including 13 on Saturday in the deadliest attack on the kingdom in more than a decade, with hundreds also wounded.<\/p>\n<p>The General Authority of Civil Aviation, in a statement, \u201cannounced the extension of the suspension of operations at King Khalid International Airport\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It said the extension was needed to \u201ccomplete the necessary procedures to verify the safety of the facilities and their operational readiness\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The authority did not specify when operations would resume.<\/p>\n<p>A senior aviation source who oversees flights to the Gulf for an airline said operations would be halted for the remainder of the working week in Saudi Arabia, according to messages sent to the carrier on Monday from Saudi aviation authorities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey told us it would be until at least Thursday. There are no flights until the end of the week,\u201d the source told <em>AFP.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He added that Terminals 3 and 4 were damaged, along with the airport\u2019s radar and communications equipment, and the runways have yet to be assessed.<\/p>\n<p>The UAE\u2019s national carrier Etihad Airways announced on Monday that it was cancelling all flights to and from Riyadh until next week due to \u201cregional disruption\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It has also suspended flights to the Saudi cities of Dammam and Jeddah this week.<\/p>\n<p>Bahrain\u2019s national carrier Gulf Air also said it was cancelling all Riyadh flights until Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>A senior official from the Riyadh Metro told <em>AFP<\/em> that authorities had suspended transport services to three stations serving the airport.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saudi authorities on Monday extended the suspension of operations at Riyadh\u2019s international airport following a series of deadly Houthi attacks.
