Prices have shot up since he launched \u200ba war against Iran seven months ago, but he blames Ukraine\u2019s attacks on Russian \u200boil refineries as a leading factor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI made the right choice for \u2060the American People \u2014 ALWAYS, AMERICA FIRST! President DONALD J. TRUMP,\u201d Trump said in a \u200bsocial media post.<\/p>\n<p>Trump said on Friday that Russia had agreed to supply diesel to \u200bglobal markets, and his administration temporarily lifted US sanctions on Russian fuel designed to deprive Moscow of revenue for its war on Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, a group of Republican and Democratic US senators called on \u200bTrump to \u201creverse course\u201d on the diesel supply deal with Russia. They said his deal \u200bmay violate a 2022 law designed to support Ukraine in its bid to repel Russian invaders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should \u200cbe \u2060tightening sanctions further, not undercutting them by allowing the import of Russian diesel and risking erasing our leverage, damaging our credibility with allies, and emboldening our adversaries,\u201d said Republican Senator Jerry Moran in a social media post.<\/p>\n<p>Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky \u200bbickered over the weekend \u200babout the Ukrainian \u2060attacks on Russian refineries. Trump said Ukraine needs a new president, and Zelensky promised to hold elections if Russia would agree to \u200ba 60-day ceasefire.<\/p>\n<p>Trump on Sunday declared that Russia and Ukraine \u200bagreed to \u2060halt attacks on each other\u2019s energy infrastructure. Whether such a deal will hold was unclear.<\/p>\n<p>Zelensky told Fox News on Monday that Ukraine\u2019s attacks on Russian refineries were not the leading \u2060cause \u200bof rising fuel prices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody understands that the prices on \u200bdiesel \u2014 it doesn\u2019t depend on our attacks on diesel in Russia.
