President Donald Trump<\/a> said \u200clate on Monday he did not believe that China and Russia were helping Iran<\/a> \u201cat all,\u201d adding that Moscow and Beijing had \u201ctoo much to lose\u201d if they enabled Tehran.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trump said on Truth Social that he \u200bhad seen comments from his critics and opponents that China and Russia were \u200bhelping Iran.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they are, it\u2019s at a very low level, but I \u2060don\u2019t believe they are at all. They have too much to lose, and we \u200bwould know about it, and know about it very fast,\u201d Trump wrote.<\/p>\n

Trump said in July \u200bhe trusted China and Russia<\/a> not to help Tehran in the Iran war, but warned that if they did get involved \u201cit would be very bad for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

The United States and Iran have been at war \u200bsince February 28, when the US and Israel attacked Iran and Tehran responded with \u200bits own strikes on Israel and Gulf states that host US bases. US-Israeli strikes on Iran and \u200cIsraeli \u2060attacks on Lebanon have since killed thousands<\/a> and displaced millions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Trump has previously described<\/a> Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin as \u201cneutral\u201d during the Iran war.<\/p>\n

Moscow and Beijing maintain close ties with Tehran. Russia has said the Iran war could lead to a nuclear arms race<\/a> in the \u200bMiddle East. Beijing has \u200bcondemned Washington\u2019s attacks \u2060on Tehran as a brazen violation of Iran\u2019s sovereignty.<\/p>\n

Last month, Trump warned Xi against providing support to Iran when the Chinese leader \u200bvisited Washington, and received assurances that China would not do so, \u200bthe US \u2060ambassador to China said at the time.<\/p>\n

The warning came amid reports that China had supplied Iran with shoulder-fired air-defence missile launchers and that Tehran had found ways to evade sanctions on \u2060its \u200boil sales with Chinese help.<\/p>\n
