{"id":2690,"date":"2026-10-14T19:03:46","date_gmt":"2026-10-14T14:03:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=2690"},"modified":"2026-10-14T19:03:46","modified_gmt":"2026-10-14T14:03:46","slug":"netanyahu-says-he-is-not-seeking-to-attack-iran-again-before-israel-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=2690","title":{"rendered":"Netanyahu says he is not seeking to attack Iran again before Israel election"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that he was not in favour of a preemptive strike against \u200bIran before Israel\u2019s October 27 election but also warned Tehran and its proxies against \u200cstriking Israel.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is not convenient for us, it\u2019s no good,\u201d Netanyahu said in an interview on Israel\u2019s Army Radio, when asked about the possibility of a preemptive strike and allegations by his political rivals that he was seeking \u200ba military confrontation ahead of the election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven if Iran fires missiles at us, they will \u200bblame me,\u201d Netanyahu said, though he also repeated his previous warnings to Iran, \u2060saying Israel would respond forcefully if attacked.<\/p>\n<p>He would not elaborate on the possibility of a \u200bpreemptive strike after the election or about his recent discussions with Washington about Iran.<\/p>\n<p>The United States and \u200bIran have been at war since February 28, when the US and Israel attacked Iran and Tehran responded with its own strikes on Israel and Gulf states.<\/p>\n<p>Israel and Iran have not traded fire since June.<\/p>\n<p>Asked whether Israel was assisting \u200bSaudi Arabia against attacks by the Iran-aligned Yemeni Houthis, Netanyahu said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t get into those matters. \u200bI can only tell you that many countries in the Middle East are turning to us following our massive \u200csuccess \u2060and tremendous achievements.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Saudi Arabia has faced widening Houthi strikes over the past week, including an attack on Riyadh airport on Saturday that killed 13 people.<\/p>\n<p>Netanyahu said that Iran\u2019s proxies were also looking to launch attacks on Israel before the election.<\/p>\n<p>Defence Minister Israel Katz, speaking from the self-declared security zone Israeli forces are \u200boccupying in southern Lebanon, \u200bwarned the Iran-backed Lebanese group \u2060Hezbollah against attacking Israel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHezbollah will suffer a severe blow and lose additional territories in southern Lebanon within the Nabatieh and Litani regions, which will become \u200bpart of Israel\u2019s permanent security zone.
