The National Assembly session on Friday opened amid loud sloganeering and disruptions from the opposition after reports emerged of an alleged drone strike at a wedding ceremony in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa earlier in the day.<\/p>\n

Chaired by Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, the sitting quickly descended into chaos as opposition lawmakers shouted during the Question Hour.<\/p>\n

The deputy speaker refused to allow any points of order, which prompted further uproar.<\/p>\n

Taking the floor, PTI leader and former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser said, “A drone attack took place today at a wedding ceremony,” adding that the strike occurred exactly when a major peace jirga was under way in K-P, which had just issued a 15-point declaration.<\/p>\n

Terming the incident insult to the province, he said it was an affront to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “We had already said that drone strikes in settled areas are unacceptable.”<\/p>\n

Jamal Kakar, also addressing the House, said that the people of Balochistan were living in “a state of extreme distress” and lamented that all routes were blocked and mobile signals were shut down.<\/p>\n

Later, the NA was eventually adjourned indefinitely.<\/p>\n

Later, speaking at a press conference, PTI leader Iqbal Afridi revealed a drone strike had hit his constituency last night.<\/p>\n

He added that the attack took place at a time when all stakeholders and leaders were present in K-P.<\/p>\n

Afridi said security operations were under way in the tribal districts and demanded the formation of a commission. “There are injured people lying in hospitals; tell us which of them are terrorists,” he said. “If even one of them is not a terrorist, then what was this drone strike for?”<\/p>\n

He warned that if no militant presence was established, he would register an FIR against the federal government. “We are soldiers of Imran Khan, and we are citizens of this country,” he said. “This country is dear to us, and we are ready to give our lives for it.”<\/p>\n

A wedding celebration in Khyber district’s Tirah Valley came under attack late Tuesday night after an explosive round was fired from a quadcopter drone, injuring eight people, including children, police said.<\/p>\n

According to officials, the incident occurred around 1am in the Shalobar area of Tirah, where a drone reportedly approached the venue and fired a projectile directly at the gathering. The blast left eight people wounded, several of them children.<\/p>\n

The injured were shifted to Peshawar for medical treatment.<\/p>\n

Police said the drone fled in an unknown direction following the attack. Law enforcement agencies and intelligence officials have launched an investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n

Officials said that the wider Tirah region hosts a significant presence of militants, and intelligence-based operations are carried out in the area from time to time.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
