A representative for Selma Blair, who was arrested this week and charged with assault<\/a> for actions \u200bon a US Delta Air Lines flight, said on Friday the \u200cactor did not intend to harm anyone or open an aircraft door.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A statement issued by her publicist repeated comments from earlier this week that Blair, who has \u200bmultiple sclerosis, suffered a medical emergency on the flight from Los \u200bAngeles to New York. Blair did not try to open \u2060a door on the plane, as some media outlets reported, the statement \u200bsaid.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was no attempt to open the door of the aircraft. Selma \u200bdid not intend to harm anyone,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

Blair pleaded not guilty on Monday to charges of assaulting a police officer involved in her arrest at New York\u2019s \u200bJohn F. Kennedy Airport and a nurse at the hospital where she \u200bwas taken afterwards.<\/p>\n

Police met the plane when it landed after reports of a \u201cphysically abusive \u200cpassenger\u201d \u2060who was identified as Blair, according to a statement from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey\u2019s police department.<\/p>\n

Two flight attendants reported injuries, and one of them was taken to a hospital, police said.<\/p>\n

Blair, \u200b54, is known \u200bfor roles in \u201cCruel \u2060Intentions\u201d and \u201cHellboy.\u201d She has spoken publicly about being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018.<\/p>\n

The statement by Blair\u2019s representative \u200bsaid Blair has a neurological condition known as pseudobulbar \u200baffect, \u201cwhich bears \u2060directly on how a medical episode presents to people who do not know her.\u201d<\/p>\n
