President Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a> administration has revoked over 300,000 US visas during his second term, the State Department said on \u200bTuesday as the federal government continues its sweeping immigration<\/a> crackdown.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The \u200cnumber showed an acceleration in the pace of visa revocations in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

In an update issued on August 10, the State Department had put the number<\/a> of \u200bvisa revocations since Trump\u2019s current term began in January 2025 at \u200bover 175,000.<\/p>\n

Trump says his immigration crackdown and deportation drive<\/a> aim to \u2060improve domestic security.<\/p>\n

Rights advocates say the crackdown has violated \u200bdue process and free speech rights and has created an unsafe environment, \u200bparticularly for ethnic minorities, who have raised concerns about racial profiling<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In announcing the latest number on X, State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said the Trump administration \u201chas revoked \u200bmore visas at a faster pace than any administration in history.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pigott \u200bsaid the administration had \u201czero tolerance for foreigners here on visas who break the law, \u200ccommit \u2060fraud, or undermine our national security.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among visa revocations particularly condemned by rights advocates are those of pro-Palestinian foreign protesters demonstrating against US ally Israel\u2019s attacks on Gaza<\/a> and of foreigners over their social media comments<\/a> about \u200bconservative commentator Charlie \u200bKirk\u2019s assassination.<\/p>\n

In addition \u2060to attempts to deport foreign protesters, the Trump administration has enforced tightened social media screening<\/a> of immigrants and \u200bvisa applicants.<\/p>\n

Rights advocates say the government has deployed \u200bnational security \u2060reasons to target critics and used isolated cases of fraud to broadly target immigrant communities such as the Somali American community in Minnesota.<\/p>\n
