Israeli strikes and gunfire killed at least four people in the Gaza Strip<\/a> in separate incidents on Thursday, health officials \u200bin the enclave said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Gaza City, a strike on a car killed \u200cat least one person, medics said. They earlier said there had been two deaths. A crowd gathered around the burning wreckage, as orange-vested emergency crews sprayed it with water, photos \u200bfrom the scene showed.<\/p>\n

Other strikes killed a Palestinian man on a \u200bbike in the southern city of Khan Younis, and a man near \u2060Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, and gunfire killed a woman near the \u200bJabalia refugee camp in the north, the medics added.<\/p>\n

Israel\u2019s military said it \u200bhad struck Hamas militants in Khan Younis, Nuseirat and Gaza City, but that it was not aware of the reported incident in Jabalia.<\/p>\n

The Hamas-led Interior Ministry in Gaza said an \u200bIsraeli airstrike killed a non-commissioned officer and wounded another officer from the drug \u200bcontrol police department after hitting their vehicle while returning from an assignment in the Tel al-Hawa \u200cneighbourhood.<\/p>\n

\u2060Israel, which says the Hamas militant group has been rearming and launching attacks in violation of a year-old ceasefire<\/a>, has stepped up strikes on the group in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

Hamas has denied trying to carry out attacks or rebuild its arsenal and \u200baccuses Israel of undermining \u200bthe Gaza peace \u2060deal.<\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s US-brokered ceasefire calls for eventual reconstruction of the territory. But little progress has been made as negotiators have \u200bfailed to agree on terms for Hamas to disarm and Israel \u200bto withdraw \u2060its troops.<\/p>\n

Israeli airstrikes have continued. At least 1,500 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire, according to the territory\u2019s health officials, while Israel says four \u2060soldiers have \u200bbeen killed.<\/p>\n
