{"id":3407,"date":"2026-10-28T10:04:27","date_gmt":"2026-10-28T05:04:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=3407"},"modified":"2026-10-28T10:04:27","modified_gmt":"2026-10-28T05:04:27","slug":"eisenkot-urges-netanyahu-to-quit-politics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=3407","title":{"rendered":"Eisenkot urges Netanyahu to quit politics"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>Israeli opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot on Wednesday urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to retire from politics, saying voters had rejected his continued leadership and warning him against using national security for political gain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Addressing supporters at his Yashar party headquarters in Tel Aviv early Wednesday, Eisenkot said Israelis had voted for change and pledged to work with his partners to form a government representing all sections of society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would be a mistake to hold another election, and it is my duty to do everything possible to carry out the will of the people,\u201d he said, acknowledging that the final election results were still pending.<\/p>\n<p>Eisenkot directly warned Netanyahu against exploiting security concerns for political purposes, saying: \u201cDo not dare use Israel\u2019s security for your political needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also urged security chiefs to remember that Netanyahu was leading a caretaker government and that their responsibility was to serve Israeli citizens.<\/p>\n<p>He urged them to resist political pressure and pledged his support for the security establishment.<\/p>\n<p>Eisenkot declared an end to an era of division and incitement and vowed to form a Zionist government focused on military conscription.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Israeli opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot on Wednesday urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to retire from politics, saying voters had rejected his continued leadership and warning him against using national security for political gain.
