{"id":3663,"date":"2026-11-02T13:04:15","date_gmt":"2026-11-02T08:04:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=3663"},"modified":"2026-11-02T13:04:15","modified_gmt":"2026-11-02T08:04:15","slug":"worlds-energy-supply-buffers-eroded-adnoc-ceo-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=3663","title":{"rendered":"World&#8217;s energy supply buffers eroded, ADNOC CEO says"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>The world has eroded its supply buffers by draining nearly 1 billion oil barrels from global \u200binventories since the US-Israeli war on Iran disrupted shipping \u200cthrough the Strait of Hormuz, the CEO of Abu Dhabi\u2019s state-owned oil company ADNOC said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Diesel stockpiles in some areas are at 35-year lows \u200bfor this time of the season, while others face an LNG supply gap of \u200b600 billion cubic feet, Sultan Al Jaber added on Monday at the \u2060UAE\u2019s ADIPEC conference.<\/p>\n<p>Prices of diesel in many markets <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link--external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/iea-speed-up-oil-stocks-release-including-over-20-million-barrels-diesel-2026-10-15\/\">have surged<\/a> \u200bto record highs, boosted by wartime supply disruptions and pose inflation and cost-of-living \u200bthreats to governments and consumers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need expanded strategic storage, larger stockpiles of products, and flexible refining capacity closer to consumer markets,\u201d Al Jaber said. \u201cInfrastructure \u200bmust be built before it is needed and enabled \u200bby advanced logistics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The cost of shipping and logistics has risen to 30% of the \u200ccost \u2060of a barrel, from 5% before the Iran war, Al Jaber said.<\/p>\n<p>The international benchmark Brent is trading around $110 a barrel, up about 50% from February just before the war began.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, \u200bthe International Energy \u200bAgency agreed \u2060to release more than 20 million barrels of diesel to the market and any oil remaining from a \u200brecord emergency reserves release pledged in March \u200bto boost \u2060supply and cool soaring prices.<\/p>\n<p>Amin Nasser, CEO of Saudi Arabia\u2019s state oil company Saudi Aramco, said last month that fewer than 6 billion barrels \u2060of commercial \u200binventories <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link--external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/world-has-nearly-burned-through-its-oil-stockpile-buffer-executives-say-2026-10-06\/\">remained<\/a>, with the vast majority not \u200bpractically available.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The world has eroded its supply buffers by draining nearly 1 billion oil barrels from global \u200binventories since the US-Israeli war on Iran disrupted shipping \u200cthrough the Strait of Hormuz, the CEO of Abu Dhabi\u2019s state-owned oil company ADNOC said.
