{"id":3686,"date":"2026-11-02T19:04:17","date_gmt":"2026-11-02T14:04:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=3686"},"modified":"2026-11-02T19:04:17","modified_gmt":"2026-11-02T14:04:17","slug":"china-fm-tells-iran-official-beijing-supports-safeguarding-sovereignty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=3686","title":{"rendered":"China FM tells Iran official Beijing supports &#8216;safeguarding sovereignty&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>China\u2019s top diplomat told a senior Iranian official that Beijing supports Tehran in \u201csafeguarding its own sovereignty and security\u201d as they met in the Chinese capital on Monday, after threats of renewed US strikes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the United States has knocked out much of Iran\u2019s military but still has to \u201ctake care of\u201d one or two targets, as Tehran warned of reprisals if attacked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChina supports Iran in safeguarding its own sovereignty and security,\u201d Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told Ali Bagheri Kani, the deputy secretary of Iran\u2019s Supreme National Security Council, according to a statement from Beijing.<\/p>\n<p>The foreign ministry had not previously announced the visit by Bagheri Kani to Beijing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll parties should\u2026 in a spirit of reason and pragmatism, focus on a political solution rather than once again resorting to armed conflict,\u201d Wang told Bagheri Kani, according to the statement.<\/p>\n<p>China, a top economic partner of Iran, has long sought a detente in the months-long conflict in the Middle East, which has at times spilt over into neighbouring countries.<\/p>\n<p>This month, China will send its Middle East envoy to Iran, Oman and Saudi Arabia as part of \u201cshuttle diplomacy visits\u2026 aimed at promoting peace talks (and) easing tensions\u201d, a ministry spokesperson told a regular news briefing.<\/p>\n<p>Also on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping met the Sultan of Oman for talks in Beijing \u2014 the first visit to China by the Gulf nation\u2019s head of state since diplomatic ties were established.<\/p>\n<p>Xi told Haitham bin Tariq that China was ready to \u201ccontribute to peace, stability and prosperity in the region\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese leader also said that the Middle East should not become a \u201cwrestling ground for major-country rivalry and geopolitical conflicts\u201d, state news agency <em>Xinhua<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>China\u2019s top diplomat told a senior Iranian official that Beijing supports Tehran in \u201csafeguarding its own sovereignty and security\u201d as they met in the Chinese capital on Monday, after threats of renewed US strikes.
