But after a speech at the Washington Reflecting Pool on Monday, he indicated he might be thinking \u200botherwise.<\/p>\n<p>Asked by reporters if he was considering striking Iran after the midterms, Trump \u200breplied \u201cno.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Iran war is a leading cause of high gasoline prices \u2060that are weighing on voters and Trump is under pressure to end the conflict.<\/p>\n<p>\u200bIranian negotiators were in Doha on Sunday for a third consecutive day of talks with \u200bQatari mediators aimed at pushing for a deal to end the war. Trump said on Monday he believed Iran wanted to make a deal and that such an agreement \u201ccould happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vice President JD Vance reported \u200bthat there had been \u201ca number of good conversations with the Iranians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook, the president and \u200bI both feel pretty good about the prospects for potentially coming to a negotiated settlement. We\u2019re going \u200cto keep \u2060on working at it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Trump stressed his bottom-line demand that Iran not possess a nuclear weapon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not going to allow Iran ever to have a nuclear weapon, and they understand that. They\u2019ve understood that, and they\u2019ve said it even recently,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we \u200ballowed Iran to have \u200ba nuclear weapon, \u2060this country could never function in the same way.
