{"id":3818,"date":"2026-11-04T15:03:48","date_gmt":"2026-11-04T10:03:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=3818"},"modified":"2026-11-04T15:03:48","modified_gmt":"2026-11-04T10:03:48","slug":"four-oil-tankers-catch-fire-after-hitting-mines-in-hormuz-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=3818","title":{"rendered":"Four oil tankers catch fire after hitting mines in Hormuz: Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>Four oil tankers caught fire after reportedly striking naval mines while attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz, Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Wednesday, amid renewed tensions between Tehran and Washington.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The announcement came a day after US President Donald Trump said American forces had carried out strikes against Iran, following reports of an attack on Qeshm Island, the largest island in the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement by the IRGC carried by Iranian state television, four oil tankers attempting to cross a restricted route south of the strait were destroyed after hitting naval mines and remained on fire.<\/p>\n<p>The Guards also said two other vessels had been stopped from proceeding through the waterway, while a drone was shot down over the strait.<\/p>\n<p>Iran maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz, a key international shipping route through which a significant share of the world\u2019s energy supplies passes.<\/p>\n<p>Since the outbreak of the conflict, Tehran has targeted vessels attempting to navigate the waterway without its authorisation.<\/p>\n<p>The war began in February after the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, indirect communications between Washington and Tehran have continued through mediators, although efforts to reach a diplomatic agreement have yet to produce a breakthrough.<\/p>\n<p>Iran has indicated its willingness to reopen the strait, but has made the move conditional on the United States accepting a set of longstanding demands.<\/p>\n<p>Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran\u2019s chief negotiator in talks with Washington, said the country remained prepared for military confrontation, declaring that the Islamic Republic was \u201cready for battle with its finger on the trigger\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>However, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said his government was seeking to resolve the crisis through diplomatic engagement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one will benefit from this war\u201d if hostilities resume, Pezeshkian said on Tuesday, as tensions over the strategically important waterway continued.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Four oil tankers caught fire after reportedly striking naval mines while attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz, Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Wednesday, amid renewed tensions between Tehran and Washington.
