{"id":3987,"date":"2026-11-07T15:03:45","date_gmt":"2026-11-07T10:03:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=3987"},"modified":"2026-11-07T15:03:45","modified_gmt":"2026-11-07T10:03:45","slug":"trump-says-us-could-become-occupier-in-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=3987","title":{"rendered":"Trump says US could become &#8216;occupier&#8217; in Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>US President Donald Trump has suggested that Washington could assume the role of an occupying power in Iran, while renewing his claims that American forces have taken control of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trump made the remarks while speaking to reporters in Florida on Friday, following an address at a NASA facility, where he also sought to downplay the scale of the ongoing military confrontation with Tehran.<\/p>\n<p>Drawing a comparison with the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Trump described the fighting between Moscow and Kyiv as a full-fledged war, claiming that it had left 25,000 people dead in October.<\/p>\n<p>By contrast, he argued that the US confrontation with Iran, which has entered its ninth month, did not qualify as a war because there had reportedly been no casualties for several months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll we are is maybe an occupier. (We) could be an occupier,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also claimed that Washington had established control over the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed the United States was extracting more oil from the strategic waterway than at any point in its history.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also acknowledged limited US military activity near Iran, following reports of strikes in the vicinity of Qeshm Island.<\/p>\n<p>Although he initially declined to discuss the reported operation, he later said Washington was conducting what he described as \u201cminor strikes\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>According to Trump, US forces had destroyed an Iranian anti-aircraft installation shortly after it was established.<\/p>\n<p>The latest comments follow his confirmation earlier this week that American forces had struck an Iranian air defence facility on Qeshm Island, an operation he characterised as limited in scope.<\/p>\n<p>Tehran, however, has dismissed Washington\u2019s assertions regarding control of the Strait of Hormuz, maintaining that the waterway remains under Iranian strategic control.<\/p>\n<p>Iranian officials have also linked its reopening to the fulfilment of their conditions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>US President Donald Trump has suggested that Washington could assume the role of an occupying power in Iran, while renewing his claims that American forces have taken control of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
