At least 33 people were killed, and 39 wounded in what the Houthi-run Saba news agency said \u200bwere Saudi air strikes on a village near Yemen\u2019s capital Sanaa \u200con Saturday, in one of the deadliest reported attacks since fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-aligned group resumed in July.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reuters could not independently verify the account. \u200bSaudi Arabia\u2019s Centre for International Communication said it was investigating the report.<\/p>\n

The \u200brenewed fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis has shattered \u2060a 2022 UN-brokered truce that largely halted attacks between the Saudi-led \u200bcoalition and the group, which controls Sanaa.<\/p>\n

The Houthis have since launched \u200bmissile and drone attacks on Saudi airports and oil facilities, while Riyadh has carried out airstrikes in Yemen in support of its Yemeni allies.<\/p>\n

The ministry said the strikes \u200bhit homes in the town of Bani Hushaysh, a Houthi stronghold \u200beast of Sanaa, and that most of those killed were women and children.<\/p>\n

Abdul Aziz Al Dailami, \u200cdirector \u2060of Sehatuna Hospital in Sanaa, said many victims remained trapped under the rubble, including first responders.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe strikes keep coming. Just as rescuers arrive, another strike hits. We have even lost some of our own medical responders, \u200bwho have been martyred,\u201d \u200bhe told Reuters.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe \u2060received a number of wounded individuals in very critical condition, with injuries to the head, chest and legs, \u200bas well as fractures,\u201d Al Dailami added.<\/p>\n

The fighting, a spillover \u200bfrom the \u2060wider US-Iran conflict<\/u><\/a>, has revived a complex 12-year war<\/u><\/a> in Yemen that has caused one of the worst humanitarian crises globally and fragmented the Arab world\u2019s most \u2060impoverished \u200bcountry.<\/p>\n
