{"id":40742,"date":"2026-02-18T00:04:26","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T00:04:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=40742"},"modified":"2026-02-18T00:04:26","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T00:04:26","slug":"pmd-installs-new-seismic-observatory-in-hunza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=40742","title":{"rendered":"PMD installs new seismic observatory in Hunza"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>In order to strengthen earthquake monitoring in the country&#8217;s northern belt, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has installed a new seismic broadband observatory in Hunza Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan, to enhance real-time detection and detailed analysis of low-intensity tremors.<\/p>\n<p>The new installation has been set up to improve surveillance of seismic activity in the Hunza region and enable authorities to detect minor earthquake events as they occur.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, three seismic stations were operational in Gilgit, Skardu and Chilas.
