Two drones fell near Dubai’s main airport and Bahrain \u200cevacuated some planes on Wednesday, as attacks on infrastructure across the Gulf continued to disrupt air traffic, hampering efforts to restore flights as the\u00a0war\u00a0on Iran entered a 12th day.<\/p>\n

The US-Israel war against Iran \u200bhas led to tens of thousands of flight cancellations,\u00a0reroutings\u00a0and schedule changes \u200bworldwide, shutting much of the Middle East\u2019s airspace \u2013 including Qatar’s \u2013 due to missile \u2060and drone threats.<\/p>\n

That has plunged aviation into its worst\u00a0crisis\u00a0since the pandemic, as\u00a0Dubai\u00a0International \u200bAirport (DXB), the busiest hub for global passengers, and other regional airports are critical transit \u200bpoints for long-haul travel.<\/p>\n

The conflict has also disrupted a key oil export corridor, leading to a spike in jet fuel\u00a0prices, pushing\u00a0fares\u00a0higher on some routes and deepening concern about a broader hit to travel \u200bdemand. Time-sensitive air cargo were also heavily affected.<\/p>\n

Bahrain’s Civil Aviation \u200bAffairs said on Wednesday several Gulf Air aircraft, without passengers, and some cargo air planes, were \u200crelocated to \u2060alternative airports to “ensure the continuity and efficiency of air operations” during the crisis.<\/p>\n

It did not provide further details. Gulf Air was not immediately available for comment.<\/p>\n

Tracking data on FlightRadar24 showed several passenger jets moving to locations in Saudi Arabia over the past 24 \u200bhours.<\/p>\n

Dubai’s media office confirmed two \u200bdrones fell near \u2060Dubai airport, but said air traffic was operating as normal. Reuters witnesses said there was no visible damage to the airport.<\/p>\n

The attack marked \u200ba renewed threat after DXB airport\u00a0sustained\u00a0damage on the first day \u200bof the \u2060conflict, alongside Abu Dhabi and Kuwait’s international airports.<\/p>\n

Regional carriers like Dubai’s Emirates and Abu Dhabi’s Etihad, as well as Qatar Airways, have resumed some flights but were still operating well \u2060below \u200bcapacity.<\/p>\n
