She met \u200bChinese President Xi Jinping and talked about the need \u200bfor peace and reconciliation.<\/p>\n<p>The 10 measures, unveiled by the official \u2060Xinhua news agency, &#8220;explore&#8221; the establishment of a regular communication mechanism \u200bbetween the KMT and China&#8217;s Communist Party, the full resumption of \u200bflights between the two sides and permission for individuals from Shanghai and Fujian province to visit Taiwan.<\/p>\n<p>A mechanism will be established to ease inspection standards \u200bfor food and fishery products, but that has to be on \u200bthe political foundation of &#8220;opposing Taiwan independence,&#8221; Xinhua said.<\/p>\n<p>Read: Chinese, Taiwanese will unite, says Xi<\/p>\n<p>Taiwanese TV dramas, documentaries and animation \u200cwill \u2060be allowed to be shown as long as they have &#8220;correct orientation, healthy content, and high production quality,&#8221; it added.<\/p>\n<p>There was no immediate reaction from Taiwan&#8217;s government.<\/p>\n<p>China refuses to talk to Taiwan President \u200bLai Ching-te, saying \u200bhe is a &#8220;separatist.&#8221; \u2060He rejects Beijing&#8217;s sovereignty claims over the democratically governed island.<\/p>\n<p>China and Taiwan have blamed each other \u200bfor the lack of a resumption of large-scale Chinese \u200btourism \u2060to the island since the end of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Taiwan has also previously complained about Chinese restrictions on imports of certain agricultural and \u2060aquatic \u200bproducts, saying China has, in some cases, \u200bused unjustified excuses to stop the spread of pests and diseases.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>China on Sunday unveiled 10 new incentive measures for Taiwan, including easing tourist curbs, allowing in &#8220;healthy&#8221; television dramas and \u200bfacilitating food sales, following a visit by the island&#8217;s \u200copposition leader.
