Motown singer Smokey Robinson is facing serious legal accusations from four former employees, who have filed a lawsuit alleging sexual assault, including rape, false imprisonment, and labor violations.<\/p>\n

Filed on Tuesday, the suit seeks a jury trial and at least $50 million in damages.<\/p>\n

Robinson, now 85, has vehemently denied the claims.<\/p>\n

In a statement to the BBC, his lawyer Christopher Frost described the allegations as \u201cvile\u201d and \u201cfalse.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs this case progresses, the evidence (the crucial element that guides us) will show that this is simply an ugly method of trying to extract money from an 85-year-old American icon \u2013 $50 million, to be exact,\u201d Frost said.<\/p>\n

The plaintiffs, identified only as Jane Doe 1 through 4, allege multiple incidents of sexual misconduct dating back as far as 2006.<\/p>\n

The women, all of Hispanic descent, say they remained silent for years due to fears of losing their jobs, retaliation from their families, or jeopardizing their immigration status.<\/p>\n

The suit also names Robinson\u2019s second wife, Frances, claiming she fostered a hostile work environment and did nothing to prevent the alleged misconduct.<\/p>\n

Though the accusations are serious, no criminal charges have been filed, and no police reports have been made.<\/p>\n

The plaintiffs\u2019 legal team held a press conference Tuesday, labeling Robinson a \u201cserial and sick rapist\u201d who \u201cmust be stopped.\u201d<\/p>\n

Robinson\u2019s legal team slammed the press conference as a \u201cbizarre\u201d stunt designed to provoke public outrage and sway opinion before any trial.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will have more to say in the coming days as we make our legal response, and in time Mr Robinson will respond in his own words,\u201d said Frost.<\/p>\n

He urged the public not to rush to judgment, stating:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe ask anyone following this case to reserve judgment as the evidence comes to light and all the actual facts of the case unfold.\u201d<\/p>\n

The legal team intends to file for dismissal and is also preparing to challenge the plaintiff attorneys\u2019 public remarks, which they claim \u201chave reached beyond the bounds of liberties that even lawyers are typically allowed in this context.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smokey Robinson, long celebrated as a cornerstone of Motown, is known for penning chart-topping classics like My Girl, The Tracks of My Tears, and Tears of a Clown.<\/p>\n

With more than 4,000 songwriting credits and a place in both the Rock and Roll and Songwriters Halls of Fame, Robinson\u2019s career spans decades of cultural influence.<\/p>\n
