{"id":7544,"date":"2025-05-17T00:05:46","date_gmt":"2025-05-17T00:05:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=7544"},"modified":"2025-05-17T00:05:46","modified_gmt":"2025-05-17T00:05:46","slug":"may-9-ghq-attack-trials-to-resume-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=7544","title":{"rendered":"May 9, GHQ attack trials to resume today"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The trial of 12 cases linked to the May 9 riots, including the GHQ attack case, is set to resume on Saturday (today) after a gap of 118 days.<\/p>\n<p>There are now strong indications that the hearing may take place inside Adiala Jail.<\/p>\n<p>The trials will be conducted by the Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) presided over by Judge Amjad Ali Shah.<\/p>\n<p>According to official orders, former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, currently imprisoned at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore, will be produced before the court at Adiala Jail today.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the court has issued arrest warrants for Sub-Inspector Riaz, the investigating officer in the GHQ attack case and Magistrate Mujtaba Al-Hasan, a key witness who conducted the identification parade.<\/p>\n<p>Both had repeatedly failed to appear before the court over the past three months despite summons.<\/p>\n<p>The magistrate has been summoned via the High Court, while the arrest warrant for the investigating officer was issued through the City Police Officer (CPO).<\/p>\n<p>In the remaining 12 cases, charge sheets will be formally filed, and copies of challans will be distributed among the accused.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The trial of 12 cases linked to the May 9 riots, including the GHQ attack case, is set to resume on Saturday (today) after a gap of 118 days.
