{"id":8167,"date":"2025-05-22T18:04:08","date_gmt":"2025-05-22T18:04:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=8167"},"modified":"2025-05-22T18:04:08","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T18:04:08","slug":"coas-gen-asim-munir-formally-receives-baton-of-field-marshal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=8167","title":{"rendered":"COAS Gen Asim Munir formally receives &#8216;Baton of Field Marshal&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Chief of the Army Staff General Asim Munir was formally handed the \u2018Baton of Field Marshal\u2019 at a special ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad Thursday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees at the ceremony included President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, members of his cabinet, PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, provincial governors and chief ministers, as well as diplomats of various countries.<\/p>\n<p>President Zardari and Premier Shehbaz jointly conferred the &#8216;Baton of Field Marshal&#8217; on Gen Munir in \u201crecognition of his strategic leadership and contributions to national defence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday is a historic and proud day. We acknowledge the services of our heroes, and today\u2019s event is part of that ongoing recognition,\u201d the prime minister said while addressing the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe military leadership has achieved a remarkable victory against the enemy. I appreciate the leadership of the field marshal. Under his command, the military leadership secured a historic triumph.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He further said, &#8220;Success was achieved in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos under the field marshal\u2019s leadership. The field marshal also played a key role in maintaining the coordination between the military and political leadership.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Read More: Gen Asim Munir promoted to rank of field marshal<\/p>\n<p>The federal cabinet had approved the promotion of COAS Munir to the rank of field marshal on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was made during a high-level cabinet meeting chaired by the PM, wherein the ministers praised the success of Operation Bunyanum Mursoos, calling it a historic victory that thwarted Indian aggression and safeguarded national sovereignty.<\/p>\n<p>The PM lauded COAS Munir for demonstrating \u201cexceptional military leadership, bravery, and strategic command\u201d and in recognition of his gallant defence of the homeland and leadership that ensured Pakistan\u2019s sovereignty, the cabinet approved PM Shehbaz\u2019s recommendation to promote General Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chief of the Army Staff General Asim Munir was formally handed the \u2018Baton of Field Marshal\u2019 at a special ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad Thursday evening.
