{"id":8231,"date":"2025-05-23T09:05:32","date_gmt":"2025-05-23T09:05:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=8231"},"modified":"2025-05-23T09:05:32","modified_gmt":"2025-05-23T09:05:32","slug":"imf-delegation-meets-president-zardari-to-review-economic-progress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipp-news.com\/?p=8231","title":{"rendered":"IMF delegation meets President Zardari to review economic progress"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Jihad Azour, met with Pakistan\u2019s President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad on Friday to discuss the country\u2019s economic situation and the ongoing IMF programme.<\/p>\n<p>Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, and other senior officials also attended the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The President praised the IMF&#8217;s support for Pakistan, stating the programme had helped stabilise the economy and would further spur growth.<\/p>\n<p>He also acknowledged the IMF\u2019s broader contribution to economic development in emerging markets, noting its vital role in Pakistan\u2019s own progress.<\/p>\n<p>The IMF delegation expressed satisfaction with Pakistan\u2019s economic reforms and described the current programme as \u201cmoving in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The delegation members emphasised that the program had assisted in reducing inflation and fiscal deficit and strengthening Pakistan\u2019s foreign exchange reserves.<\/p>\n<p>Thanking\u00a0the IMF for its continued support and cooperation with Pakistan, President Zardari\u00a0also appreciated the finance ministry for its efforts to improve the national economy.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his government\u2019s resolve to accelerate institutional reforms and consolidate macroeconomic stability, saying Pakistan was now transitioning from recovery to sustained growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the grace of Allah, Pakistan is now moving from economic stability toward sustainable growth,\u201d Shehbaz Sharif said during a high-level meeting with a delegation from International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Jihad Azour at the PM\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that the government\u2019s top priority was not only to sustain macroeconomic gains but also to expedite comprehensive institutional reforms, crucial for long-term resilience.<\/p>\n<p>Discussions during the meeting centred on the implementation of Pakistan\u2019s current International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme.<\/p>\n<p>Both sides expressed satisfaction over progress made and the positive impact of ongoing reforms.<\/p>\n<p>The IMF delegation welcomed the reforms undertaken by Islamabad and assured continued support for Pakistan\u2019s economic stabilisation and inclusive growth agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Jihad Azour, met with Pakistan\u2019s President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad on Friday to discuss the country\u2019s economic situation and the ongoing IMF programme.
