R. Kelly Hospitalized After Prison Medication Overdose, Lawyers Allege Murder Plot

R. Kelly, the embattled R&B singer currently serving a 30-year sentence for sex trafficking and racketeering, was hospitalized following what his attorneys describe as a deliberate overdose. The incident occurred at the Federal Correctional Institution in Butner, North Carolina, where Kelly has been imprisoned since his 2021 conviction.

According to his legal team, Kelly, whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, became dizzy and faint and reported seeing black spots shortly after receiving medication from prison staff. He was swiftly transported to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment. Lawyers allege that the dosage given was excessive and not an accident.

“We believe this was a calculated attempt on Mr. Kelly’s life,” a member of his legal team said in a statement. They claim the overdose was administered while Kelly was being held in solitary confinement, a condition they say has made him increasingly vulnerable.

While prison officials have yet to comment publicly, the claims raise serious concerns over inmate safety and medical oversight within the federal prison system.

Kelly’s team is now calling for an independent investigation and greater transparency surrounding the circumstances of the incident. No charges or disciplinary actions have been reported so far against prison staff.

The singer, once hailed as a music icon, has been the subject of intense scrutiny and legal battles for years. This latest development adds another troubling layer to a case already mired in controversy and public outrage.
