Man allegedly poisons wife to death

A woman was allegedly poisoned to death by her husband with the help of his brother in a suburban area of Vehari, following a prolonged domestic dispute.

Police registered a murder case and arrested the main suspect soon after the incident.

According to police sources, the victim, Tanzeela Razzaq, daughter of Amir Razzaq, was married to Muhammad Umar, a resident of Chak 188-WB, about four years ago.

Their marriage was reportedly troubled, with frequent arguments between the couple. They had two children — a son and a daughter — who survived the tragic incident.

Two days prior to the incident, Umar brought Tanzeela back to his home from her parents’ house. However, on the following day, he allegedly conspired with his brother Usman to poison her to death.

After Tanzeela’s condition deteriorated, the suspects reportedly dumped her body at District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Vehari and fled the scene. Upon receiving the report, Garha Morh Police registered an FIR under Sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and arrested the main accused, Muhammad Umar.

Police have launched raids to apprehend his brother, who remains at large.

According to a police spokesperson, the victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination at DHQ Hospital Vehari to determine the exact cause of death. District Police Officer (DPO) Vehari Muhammad Afzal has taken notice of the incident and directed the SHO Garha Morh to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice without delay.
