Abdul Razzaq leads Pakistan Over-40s team featuring Shahid Afridi

The Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association has announced the 18-member national squad for the IMC Over-40s T20 World Cup 2025, featuring a blend of renowned former international players and consistent veteran performers. The squad was announced by Former Test Player and PVCA’s Chief Selector Ajaz Ahmed Faquih.

Former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq, who represented Pakistan in 343 international matches across formats, scoring over 7,400 runs and taking more than 380 wickets, will captain the side.

The inclusion of superstar Shahid Afridi, who played 524 international matches, scoring over 11,000 runs and claiming over 540 wickets will add immense firepower to the squad.

Fawad Alam known for his grit and reliability has been named as vice-captain.

He has amassed more than 2,000 international runs for Pakistan and brings valuable middle-order stability to the team.

They are joined by Sohail Khan who has taken 51 international wickets, including a memorable World Cup five-for against India. Zulfiqar Babar with 54 wickets in 15 Tests; Tabish Khan a seasoned pacer and long-serving first-class performer with a Test appearance for Pakistan and Humayun Farhat, a former wicketkeeper-batsman who represented Pakistan in both Tests and ODIs — collectively adding depth, balance and experience to the lineup.

The legendary Javed Miandad will serve as the team mentor, bringing his invaluable experience and cricketing wisdom to guide the squad. He will be joined by former Test Player Jalal Uddin as head coach and Azam Khan as team manager, forming a strong support team for Pakistan’s Over-40s campaign.

PVCA Chairman Fawad Ijaz Khan expressed confidence in the team’s composition, noting that it represents “the strength and spirit of Pakistan cricket at the veteran level.”
