Special Olympics Winter Games winners’ achievements celebrated in Islamabad

A grand ceremony was held at a private hotel in Islamabad in honor of the players who performed outstandingly and brought glory to the country in the Special Olympics World Winter Games Italy 2025.

On this occasion, the special guest was the Chairperson Special Olympics Pakistan Ronak Lakhani.

According to the details, in the Winter Games held in Italy, the special players demonstrated excellent performance and brought home 15 medals in March 2025.

To encourage the players, the Pakistan Sports Board and Special Olympics distributed cash awards on this occasion.

Pakistan players Shah Guloon, Ali Raza, Muneeb-ur-Rehman, along with coordinators Sadia Baig and Amna Ashraf and coaches Shumaila Irum, Muhammad Saleem, and Islamabad Region Coach Raja Faisal Ashraf were also present.

OGCL’s Sumbal Wahab Usman was also at the event.

Chairperson Ronak Lakhani said that the Special Olympians are Pakistan’s heroes.

She added that the federal and Sindh governments have encouraged these players and emphasised on the importance of the support: “If the government’s cooperation continues, these national heroes will get more medals and make Pakistan proud. The special athletes are our asset.”

Sarwat Gilani is the brand ambassador of Special Olympics.

“Our organisation provides facilities to the athletes,” said coach Shumaila Iram. “I am proud to provide training to these special athletes of Pakistan. These talented athletes of Pakistan are the pride of Pakistan.”
