The Director General of RDA has issued a letter to the resident deputy director audit, supporting the continuation of the pay protection allowance.
Heavy deductions have begun according to grade for the return of the allowance collected over a period of one year and seven months, severely impacting the household budgets of employees.
According to officials, like other departments across Punjab, the pay protection allowance had been added to salaries in RDA from May 2024. However, after a court declared the implementation and payment of the allowance illegal, the government has begun recovering the paid amount.
This recovery is being made through monthly instalments deducted from upcoming salaries.
The deduction process began from the salary of December 2025. Due to the time required to recalculate salaries, officers and staff were still unable to receive their November salaries by December 3.
