Cold Siberian winds to follow Karachi’s first winter rain, PMD says

After the first winter rainfall in Karachi, cold Siberian winds are expected to affect the city in the coming days, with temperatures likely to drop to single digits, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said on Wednesday.

PMD spokesperson Anjum Nazeer said the highest rainfall of 6 millimetres was recorded in Kemari due to a western weather system that brought rain to Karachi late on Tuesday night. He said the system is gradually moving out of the city.

“The current system is expected to leave Karachi by this evening, after which only light drizzle is likely,” Nazeer said.

He added that cold winds following the system are expected to impact Karachi from January 4 to 5. During this period, the minimum temperature in the city could fall to single digits, increasing the chill.
