Govt cuts petrol price, raises diesel for October 28
The federal government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs3.19 per litre while increasing the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs2.25 per litre for Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been cut from Rs379.25 to Rs376.06 per litre, while the price of diesel has risen from Rs395.82 to Rs398.07 per litre.
The revised prices took effect at midnight and will remain applicable for one day, until October 28, 2026.
The Petroleum Division said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the prices in accordance with the federal government’s pricing mechanism, taking into account changes in international oil prices, Platts assessments, premiums and other costs.

Fuel price fluctuations continue
Petrol and diesel prices have continued to fluctuate since July 17, with both fuels recording repeated increases and reductions.
According to the figures provided, petrol prices have been reduced 30 times and increased 38 times during this period. High-speed diesel prices have been cut 26 times and raised 42 times.
The latest revision follows a price increase announced on Monday, when petrol became more expensive by Rs1.54 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs2.16 per litre.
Following that increase, petrol was priced at Rs379.25 per litre and high-speed diesel at Rs395.82 per litre, before the latest changes took effect.
Earlier, on October 16, the government announced fuel prices for October 17 to 19, keeping petrol unchanged at Rs377.71 per litre while increasing the price of high-speed diesel by Rs1.91 to Rs393.66 per litre.
Amid the Middle East crisis, the government has been determining petroleum prices on a daily basis, while keeping them unchanged on Saturdays and Sundays.
