Transgender assault suspects netted

Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested several suspects involved in the sexual assault of a transgender person at gunpoint and the recording of the crime. Weapons used in the offence have also been recovered from the accused.

According to police, the arrested suspects have been identified as Samiullah and Babar, who were also previously involved in firing at police during a recent encounter. Another suspect, Hakimullah, was earlier apprehended in an injured condition following a police encounter.

Acting on the directives of Haripur DPO, Shafiullah Gandapur, Haripur Police continue an ongoing crackdown against individuals involved in social crimes.

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of City Police Station on Kinara Nadi Road near Tarbela Chhapar Bridge, where a transgender person was threatened at gunpoint, sexually assaulted, and the act was filmed. On the complaint of the victim, a case was registered under Section 375-A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

City SHO Siddiq Shah, along with police personnel, conducted a successful operation and arrested the suspects identified as Raza son of Ghulam Sabir, Babar, son of Sardar Khan (a resident of Babu Mohallah), and Samiullah, son of Khalid Mahmood (a resident of Pharahala).
