Three-year-old kidnapped from park in Karachi

The Hyderi police have registered a case of kidnapping a three-year-old boy from Al-Fatah Family Park in Karachi’s North Nazimabad, during a family outing. The CCTV footage, surfaced after the child went missing, shows a woman and a man carrying the child, prompting senior police officials to take notice of the incident.

According to the police, the kidnapped child, identified as Muhammad Anas, was with the family and other children from MPR Colony, Orangi Town, during a visit to the park on Sunday. The child reportedly went missing while playing in the park, triggering an immediate search by the family members, which proved unsuccessful.
The complainant told the police that the family put up an extensive search in the evening but they did not find Anas anywhere in and around the park.

Hyderi police registered FIR against unidentified woman and man, based on a complaint filed by a relative of the child. SHO Hyderi Sub-Inspector Arif said, “Police reviewed the footage of CCTV installed inside the park which shows a woman leaving the park while holding the child in her arms. The suspected woman was accompanied by a man wearing a jacket.” He added that footage from outside the park is also being obtained to help identify and trace the suspects.

Taking notice of the incident, DIG West Irfan Baloch has constituted a four-member investigation committee under the supervision of DSP Nazimabad Kamal Naseem. The team includes SHO Hyderi, SHO Joharabad, and the Investigation In-charge of Hyderi police station.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Anas’s father Naseem said the family resides in MPR Colony, Orangi Town, and that his younger brother had taken the children to the park for recreation when the incident occurred. “After the CCTV footage surfaced, it became clear that a woman had taken my son away,” he said, urging police authorities to recover his son immediately and ensure strict punishment for those involved in the kidnapping.

Police officials have assured that all available resources and technical expertise will be utilised to ensure the safe recovery of the child at the earliest.
