Joint sitting of parliament set for Jan 21

The government has decided to convene a joint sitting of Parliament on January 21, with a heavy legislative agenda that includes the passage of 29 bills.

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has forwarded a formal summary to the president seeking approval to summon the joint session, which is scheduled to begin at 10:30am.

According to officials, the joint sitting will take up a total of 29 bills for approval, comprising 18 private members’ bills and 11 government bills. Of these, 24 bills had earlier been returned without presidential assent.
