Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Dr Athar Waheed, while reviewing traffic arrangements in various parts of the city, said that traffic personnel would perform duties round the clock throughout Ramazan.
Additional staff will be deployed during the second shift, while special squads will remain active to manage congestion during peak hours, particularly before Iftar. He said vehicles from all 45 traffic sectors would remain on patrol during the night shift to maintain uninterrupted traffic flow and prevent bottlenecks on major roads and in commercial areas.
To facilitate citizens, traffic wardens will be deployed at 23 Sahulat Bazaars, five cattle markets and 22 dastarkhwans set up across the provincial capital.
Divisional and circle officers have been directed to ensure effective supervision during Iftar and Taraweeh timings to manage traffic pressure efficiently.
Dr Athar stressed strict enforcement of parking discipline in Ramazan bazaars and busy markets, warning that wrongful parking would not be tolerated. To curb violations, more than 200 wardens from the Traffic Response Unit, along with 34 forklifts and five breakdown vehicles, will remain on duty round the clock to remove illegally parked vehicles.
The CTO also announced that Iftar would be provided to traffic wardens at their duty points at official expense.
Senior officers, including SPs and DSPs, will join wardens at various intersections to boost their morale during the fasting month.
Dr Athar voiced the hope that citizens would cooperate with traffic police and exercise patience, particularly during Iftar hours.
