Understaffing sparks protest at school

The future of 160 female students at Government Girls High School, Union Council (UC) Jarral, is at risk due to severe understaffing, with only four teachers assigned to the entire school. This critical issue has sparked widespread outrage, leading to a protest outside the Abbottabad Press Club against the provincial government’s failure to address the problem.

A delegation of concerned residents from UC Jarral, including former Nazim Haji Ali Haider, former Councillor Abdul Kareem, and Safdar Tanoli Advocate, joined by local elders and citizens, gathered to voice their frustrations. The protesters condemned the lack of action from the provincial education authorities and demanded the immediate appointment of qualified teachers.

Despite several appeals to the Tehsil Chairman and the DEO to rectify the staffing shortage, no significant measures have been taken. The protesters issued a stern warning, threatening to escalate their efforts by blocking the Silk Route and staging a symbolic lockout of the school if the issue is not resolved promptly.

Calling on K-P Chief Minister, the education minister, the commissioner, and both male and female DEOs, the protesters urged swift intervention to address the critical shortage of teachers.
